Meeting Our Grower, Producer of Piment from the Island of Groix

Off the coast of Brittany, the Island of Groix is home to a hidden treasure: the Groix pepper. Grown with passion by Isabelle and Yves Guelou since 2005, this organic pepper is the result of unique island know-how and sustainable farming practices.

Coming from a family of organic market gardeners, these dedicated farmers practice diversified agriculture with a focus on polyculture and livestock, fostering a balanced ecosystem and actively contributing to the local economy of the island. Their cultivation of Gorria pepper is based on traditional and sustainable methods: they personally select their seeds, which are farmer-grown seeds perfectly suited to the island’s soil and climate. Without pesticides or chemical fertilizers, their peppers stand out for their incomparable aromatic intensity. Harvested at full maturity, they reveal delicately spicy notes that enhance marine flavors without overpowering them.
